Family Communication

Classroom Information

The classroom teachers send monthly newsletters and monthly/weekly lesson plans.  Infant/Toddler teachers send monthly plans and Pre-K classrooms send weekly plans through Teaching Strategies. Each classroom has an email address in which parents and teachers can communicate and send pictures as children are engaging in activities throughout the week.

Teaching Strategies

Our Toddler and Pre-K classroom use MyTeachingStrategies® It is a unique online platform that provides access to digital tools and resources for supporting each of the critical components of high-quality early childhood education: teaching and assessing, reporting, ongoing professional development, and family engagement. Each family that registers will be able to see teacher documentation including pictures linked to the developmental standards.

Open House/Conference Night

Our Toddler Gold, Pre-K Blue, and Pre-K Gold classrooms hold open house/conference night in September.  We provide information and enroll new parents into Teaching Strategies in order for them to track their child’s learning experiences based on our Early Learning Standards.

Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night is held each March.  It is an informational meeting for children enrolling the following year into our WV Pre-K program.  It is a time to visit the classrooms and discuss our collaborative program with the Marion County Board of Education.

Center-Wide Monthly Newsletters  (click for sample newsletter)

Each month, the Program Director, sends out Parent Pages and Sunbeam Clipboard to our families.  Included are short research or current informational articles to support parents along with Sunbeam specific information and important dates.

Lifetouch Pictures

We schedule Lifetouch pictures twice a year.  In the fall individual pictures are taken and packets are available for purchase. In the Spring classroom group pictures are taken and are also available for purchase.
