Community Involvement

Donations

Children and Families

We like to give back to our local community.  Yearly, we collect and make donations to our local Soup Opera and to St. Jude’s Children Hospital with our WV Pre-K Trike-a-thon. Also, if the opportunities arise we support other non-profits as well, for example Hospice for Hearts in February.

Annually, many of our teachers participate in the CASA 5-K.  The CASA Superhero 5K benefits CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) programs in Harrison and Marion Counties in West Virginia. These CASA programs are part of a network of 946 programs that are recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courtroom and other settings.
CASA Volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children. Their purpose is to make sure the children don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. For many children their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. Independent research has shown that children with a CASA volunteer are substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care and less likely to reenter care.
